Pantomime / Flour Sac

Image
For our third project, we were required to animate a flour sac. Unfortunately due to the limited time I had to work on this project (due to my other classes) I wasn't proud of the outcome, so I won't be posting it on this blog. However, here's the flour sac artwork I created to practice flow, balance, etc!

Pendulum and Overlapping Action

For this project, we were required to animate an object to swing or move like a pendulum (with a secondary action). The first idea I had was to animate one of my original characters reaching into his pocket and taking out a pocket watch, so I went with that idea. Unfortunately I ran out of time and was unable to incorporate a shot of him reaching into his pocket, however I still was able to animate him extending his arm (and the pocket watch swinging from the motion). The folds on the clothing was definitely the most time consuming part, but the pendulum motion was rather easy as I have prior experience with pendulum motions from my prior "Beginning Animation" class (where I animated a pendulum using motion graphics in after effects).

First Frame by Frame Animation

Today I completed my first frame by frame / character animation. Animating frame by frame is just as time consuming as I thought it was going to be, and it took a while to get used to Toon Boom. But now I finally think I have the basics of Toon Boom down and I'm happy with how my first animation came out! I've been looking forward to creating character animations for a while now, and I'm beyond ecstatic that I know how to create them! If I had more time I would've added more in-betweens and would've cleaned it up a bit more, but I need to get started on the pendulum assignment.
